Week 68: 🎵Then Let My Lips Proclaim It Still...🎵

Odds and Ends

●We got ALL got woken up with the biggest crack of lightning and we all woke up at the same time and were like DID YOU HEAR THAT?
●I got a new dress in my FAV color from Sister Kordes' shop! Olive green. She's seriously the best!
●Sister Gibbens got big time sicky... her tummy is hurting her bad!
●Our AC went out, and it got to 85° in the trailer. We had to rearrange because part of the problem may have been the couch blocking a vent. The Reynolds brought over industrial fans and helped us out. Sure do love them!
●SISTER MICKELSON IS BACK! She came to visit (she's literally been gone like a month lol). But it was so fun to meet her family! We went to a little bbq place. Her mom is literally my absolute favorite. And I already heard old mannerisms come back when I was with her!
●We also got to have dinner with Sister Bruce's dad! He was in town for work. It was beautiful to see her with him.
●A while back some members drove us to the temple for a tour. Well they are moving, and they found my rain jacket tag in their car haha!
●On Newberry exchanges, we worked out w Bri Eargle again and I did dead lifts for the first time. Bri said I dead lift like a stripper, but in my defense, it was my first time attempting anything remotely close to weights. Then I almost barfed I worked so hard.
●We had asked the Followell family what we could pray for each of them. We wrote them down so we could read them off during the prayer. I started to pray and the screen to Sister Mackowiak's phone turned off so I whacked her a few times frantically for her to put in her password as I prayed for who knows what. But no one noticed! Success!
●Please appreciate one of my areabook updates: Knocked 2x, no answer. Floofer was like ARF ARF and we were like okeeeee we'll leave fine and then we walk towards him and he's like WOAH big scary hoomans and we're like THAT'S WHAT WE THOUGHT. Dog? More like chicken.
●I solved a puzzle at the Dye's house and WOW I felt accomplished.
●One day, Sister Bruce and I made made protein balls, pancakes, and banana muffins before 9am. Then we made muddy buddies and Mexican chicken the next day. Little chefs over here 👩‍🍳👩‍🍳
●For pday we did bowling, and we all alternated playing Pokémon with Elder Champion between bowling turns. Then we played bananagrams, and I am the champ💁‍♀️
●Sister Bruce killed a fly into my muffin batter... she snipes those things like NO ONE I'VE EVER SEEN!
●We had the yummiest brisket I've ever tasted at the King's for dinner. AND Sister King gave me a book about curly hair stuffs! SO NICE. And little Charlotte played with my hair after dinner. She's the cuuutest!
●Some missionaries are trying to steal my toodaloo lovelies catchphrase😐
Miracles
★We got a text from bishop. There's the Wilson family in this ward. I've been scared to approach them while I've been here. BUT. Lumen and Talons older brother Corbin is returning home from his mission. So... Brother Wilson reached out to Bishop and said that he will contact us to teach their kids the lessons so they can be baptized in July! AH!!! THEN Sister Wilson approached us at church, and she was so warm with us! Also she said she loved the cookies we dropped off! We will be meeting with Lumen and Talon hopefully 2+ times a week to get them prepared for baptism! YAYAYAYAY! So excited to start teaching these sweet kiddos!
★Donna is reading the Book of Mormon and is loving it! We had a few lessons with Donna this week, and Donna is starting the word of wisdom. Sister Brown offered oils to help with her hip pain (she's in need of a replacement) and yarn for Donna to keep busy! Then in another lesson with Sister Nebeker, she shared a scripture and offered to bring a picture of Christ to Donna to help remind her of her "why" behind keeping the Word of Wisdom. Then she got a priesthood blessing to help with her staying strong. We took her vapes. All 4 of 'em! She understands the fall and creation A LOT and was quoting scriptures out of thin air! I'm excited for her to go through the temple one day!! She will love it! AHHH Donna is the best! She did slip up but she's on the upward climb!
★Sister Brucie had a terrible headache after zone conference, and as we were leaving I asked if she wanted a blessing. I didn't wait, I just jumped out of the car before we left the parking lot and waved down some elders. After the blessing, she literally had almost INSTANT healing! The priesthood is real.
★Shy accidentally locked her keys in her car and God made a way for us to see her! She was so grateful to see us, she even said that she was driving to church last week but then got called in early for work and had to turn back around. BIG SAD. She is so elect and still wants to learn! Also she LOVES Mosiah 24:14 that we shared with her the first time we met her. And apparently she saves all of our sticky notes and puts them on her fridge. I have hope for her!
★On exchanges to Newberry, my home land, I got to teach Richard again! I actually got to be there when he was first found, teach him last exchange, and now this one. He is sooooo close to baptism! He even told us himself that he is stalling and doesn't see the need for urgency. The Spirit helped me and I made an analogy. He was dragging a massive heavy bag, and obviously struggling. A man on the side (the Savior) offered to take. But instead he keeps dragging and says "nah I'm fine." He still is struggling to commit, but he will get there!
★I got to see the Blaaaaacks again!!! Eeee! We talked about the 3 kingdoms and Audrey had some eye-opening questions! And of course they let me hold their fluffy pillows like always
★On exchanges, we got to have dinner with the Followells who I knew, and Shayna who's kids I taught, recognized me! Sometimes you never know how you impact a ward/area until you leave it.
★We were looking for a lady who had made a request for a visit. Sister Mackowiak was satisfied with meeting her and verifying her number. She started to close our the conversation, but Sister Bruce redirected it, pulled out a Book of Mormon, and did a "Rasband approach" where she shared a scripture with her. It was a proud mama moment!
★While on exchanges, poor Sister Gibbens and Sister Hillyer heard gunshots, and got mega stalked while walking to see the cows on our dirt road. They had to hide in the sticks, call Sister Reynolds and have her pick them up. So we came back and Sister Gibbens was pretty shaken up. Closest I've ever seen her to tears. Devin bought us hot pink pepper sprayed though! I'm sure my dad is happy I finally have one!
★WOW. okay. We got a referral out in the boondocks. So pulled up, and turns out the guy who made the original request was not interested at all, but we met Nicolette and opened up! She said she KNEW it wasn't coincidence we showed up when we did. Then she talked about a lot of her life trials but how she is glad for them bc she wouldn't be who she is today. We whipped out the BOM and read Ether 12:6 and she kept on reading a few verses on because she just loved it!  Debbie asked if we believe in the trinity, we explained, and Nicolette was like "Yeah one in purpose like marriage. I could see that!" Talk about inspired.
★Brandon's son is in town! We are so excited to have little Braxdyn around and hopefully teach him the gospel!
★I sang in church! Emily ran up and hugged me after, then little Sophia drew me a picture while I was up there. I love bearing my testimony through song!
Spiritual Thought
Zone conference... the last with the Monsons 😭 I know this change is inspired, that they've served what the Lord has asked. But they truly have shaped my mission. It almost won't feel like the SCCM without them. One thing I won't forget from President and Sister Monson is how important it is to understand and apply the Atonement. Some parting words from President Monson:
"You may have to wait YEARS to have some prayers answered. But when it comes to the Atonement, the Savior RUNS to you." I know now what the Atonement is between both President and Sister Monson. I will miss them so much. Thankfully Utah isn't too far away! They signed my missionary tag... ahhh i love them! And in my very last interview with the Monsons, President looked me right in the eye and said "Sister Palmer, I know you're a missionary who is all in." That was the biggest compliment President could have left me with! Thank you President and Sister Monson, I'll miss you!!! (They don't leave the mission yet but they will soon!)
★SO. My go-to song to sing in church is "Savior, Redeemer of My Soul." And this time around, when I sang it, a phrase stood out to me that never has before. "Never can I repay thee Lord, but I can love thee, thy pure word... then let my lips proclaim it still, and all my life reflect thy will." As I'm getting closer to the end of my time here in South Carolina, more and more I've seen symbols of missionary work. And here's one right in this song! I know that no matter how hard I work as a missionary or a disciple, I can't ever repay Christ what He's done for me. But I can love Him! And then that's where the "proclaiming" comes in! Because as a missionary, "I have been called of Him to declare His word among His people." So as I sang this song, I really connected to it this time more than the others. Because I am going to love, proclaim, and do all I can to reflect God's will. And I'm going to do this forever! ♡
