Week 36: Rose Miracles and Accidentally Pushing Doors Open

 Ooookay. Here. We. GO!

Odds and Ends
---We were in our friend's house and right after we walk in, I see a plastic grocery bag on the couch full of trash. And then I see it MOVE. I said "What was that?" Sister Carter says "oh no it's just the wind because I didn't close the door yet." I knew that was too big of a movement for the wind. Then I see it. A MOUSE. Then in the 20 minute span that we are there... we see 4 others. Ah. I jumped once during the lesson because I thought a mouse had touched my foot.
---We had an appointment with Nana. We went up to her door and we saw that the door wasn't completely closed. We couldn't see anything, but it wasn't all the way shut. We knocked 3x and nothing, and the door didn't budge from our knocking thank goodness. Then we wrote a sticky note to tell her we stopped by. And when Sister Carter went to put the sticky note on the door... she accidentally pushed the door open! This older woman was just sitting on the couch on her phone and had ignored us completely. Sister Carter was a deer in headlights and was apologizing frantically. The lady didn't seem to mind too much haha! After she closed the door, I burst out laughing. Very uplifting moment there!
---Everyone in the ward comments on how tall both of us are haha!
---Since Wednesday I've been sick with a stuffy nose. (not covid, i checked :) I carried around a roll of toiler paper to blow my nose in between appointments. By Saturday I needed a new roll. Some people may thought i was just gonna spontaneously toilet paper their house haha!
--- For Halloween we Disney bounded! We cant go outside of what we would normally wear on a proselytizing day. So we did the best we could! I was Belle and Sister Carter Rapunzel.
---Fall leaves actually change color here!
---I got 3 ant bites in-between my toes. I'm definitely allergic to them. This is probably the 4th or 5th time my ankle/foot has swollen up from SC ants.
---We got 5 dollar sushi at Publix!!!
---Poor Brother Price told us he had the "worst hamburger in the history of the free world." He was very offended and made sure to tell us when he saw us..
---I was told this week that the phrase "bless their heart" is used as an eraser in the south for whatever you just said.
---The new Youth album is SO GOOD. My personal faves are "I Can Do All Things" and "Witness" and "The Only One." Go give then a listen!
Miracles
☆☆☆We decided one day to buy some flowers and give them out to people in the parking lot with pass a long cards to brighten others day! We felt inspired to stop and visit Billy who a member had said we should visit and was being taught before. We still had lots of flowers left, but we went. We met sweet Billy, who has seen a lot of death and war in his life, and served in the military. Sister Carter whipped out the story about Moroni and he connected a lot! And then I randomly asked "Billy, would you like a flower?" He said yes so I hurried to the car. At first I grabbed the white rose, but then I felt probably to put it down and grab the yellow rose instead. Before I even handed it to him, Billy began to be teary-eyed and said this was the greatest honor in the world. Apparently in his rank of military, being given a yellow rose is the highest honor. He treasured that flower and said he's going to save it forever! Only God would have known that. It was super cool!
☆☆☆We were knocking on a next door neighbor of someone who used to meet with missionaries. She kindly told us it was a no soliciting neighborhood. Then she proceeds to tell us about her health and an accident she was in, and it was a really cool story! But it took 30 minutes, and was mostly us nodding our heads. Then she cuts herself off and says, "Girls I gotta go, I forgot about my salmon!" She closes just her glass door so we can still see inside. We see a hazy room filled with some smoke, and see her franticly waving it out her window. We made sure she didn't need help and left...
☆☆☆Velvet Penny was one of our last visits of the day, and I had realized I wasn't smiling much. So when she answered I smiled so big my face hurt. And her mood changes 180! It's a miracle what the spirit can do♥︎
☆☆☆Nicole connected with Sister Templin super well in our lesson! Definitely God's hand there.
☆☆☆David is preparing for baptism at the end of November! He couldn't have a stronger testimony about judgement day. He's amazing!
☆☆☆ We got a media referral from a member! Thomas and Ann, his wife, who had been taking missionary lessons years ago. They are the SWEETEST and Ann loves all things Eagles and Flamingos. And their dog Lil Bit just chilled on my lap the entire time I was there! It was such a miracle they reached out!
☆☆☆This week at an elderly nursing home we were teaching our 2 recently baptized friends, and a few people joined during the lesson. This one man questioned my testimony and I got the chance to stand up for it in a Christ like way! He said I wasn't ready for his knowledge especially because I'm only 19. But I KNOW this gospel, and I know how true it is. He was unconvinced and so we said a prayer and left to go inside. A while later he walked past in the hallway inside of a room we were in, and we were a little scared he might be following us. Then we went outside and saw him camping out on his Moped. Then as we were walking to our car, we hear it coming towards us. We unlocked the car and briskly kinda ran to it. We jumped into the car and he passed us and we never saw him again. A wee bit frightening, but we were safe in the end.
☆☆☆We were driving to a trailer park for another media referral. We saw these 2 drunk guys bopping to blasting music. We kind of chuckled... until we realized THAT was the house we were supposed to go to. We prayed and God told us we still should go knock. They had gone inside just before we walked up to knock. One of then answered and when we asked for Harriet all we heard was "mabdjwdinekswkenwks." Yes. Jibberish, incoherence. We asked again, same sort of response. He closed the glass door so we assumed he was saying bye. So we both said "Oh okay, BYE!" We assumed it was the wrong house. He whips around and says "Did you say bye? Bye? Did you say bye to me? No one says bye to me." He's getting defensive. At this point I start retreating down the steps, but Sister Carter is frozen in fear. Scary. And then lo and behold, Harriet comes out to meet us and invites us in! She came to our rescue. We met her and her granddaughters and had an amazing lesson about faith and the Book of Mormon. The Spirit was so strong! We went to leave and as soon as we opened the door, the loud music and drunk men chase off the spirt. The contrast from inside and outside was so different! We didn't even hear the music during the lesson. That's how powerful the Spirit is! Miracles can happen when we speak of truth!
Spiritual Thought
The biggest lesson I learned this week. NEVER back down from your testimony! It's the most powerful thing you own. Read about it in Alma 31:5 and Alma 13:24.
Birthdays
SPENCER! Happy belated bday cuz.
Long one for sure this week...hehe! But so many miracles! Now all of y'all. Seek and expect miracles in your life! They will happen. Trust in the Lord ♡
