Week 56: Grapefruit Juice is yummy
Odds and Ends
● Sister Cordez let us come to her Boutique called Southern Blu and let us pick out a dress for easter AND a pair of shoes! She's so kind! The elders at Zone Conference all said they loved my new boots!
●Sister Hoyal is in fact gluten free. We always joke about giving her a crumb in her sleep or something, and just tease her about it. The phrase "destroyed by a crumb" is frequently passed around. Anywho, we go to a member meal and there's a salad. With croutons. So Sister Hoyal just tried not to grab any croutons. But the contamination is too much. So we had to run home and get her medicine.
●We had a lesson with Larry where he GRILLED us with questions. And I sat next to Larry's pistol, hoisted on a belt and draped over the couch armrest. I was holding so still because I had a fear I'd accidentally set it off with one little shift.
●Sis Mickelson drew the elders in callins... pretty well I might add
●We had lunch with the Penrods for the last time... they are literally like my grandparents! And my AZ buddies. They took us to Mellow Mushroom! Then we went to see Elder Penrod speak and say goodbye! I put my head on Sister Penrod's shoulder and a single tear was shed. Wowee we are losing a real one!
●Little Halle next door was blaring some Saturday chores music... she was playing some bangers during pstudy and it was kinda fun to "guess that tune" through the wall.
●There was a tornado warning and we thought we were going to die 🚨
●Elder Tobler ripped his pants wrestling Elder White on pday. That was our cue to leave hehe...
●Sister Mickelson cut me a rose out of a strawberry... 🍓🌹
●We drank grapefruit juice for Brandon. Last week he flopped over on the couch and told us "I'd smoke a cigarette just to get the taste of the grapefruit juice out of my mouth!" So we drank it, and now we are low-key addicted to it!
●Got Knead pizza plus wore green for St. patties day...we tried to be subtle about it
●Pres asked about the beads in my hair because he wasn't sure what they were haha!
●I was told by 2 people that the dress I got from Sister Cordez's shop was a candy corn dress... see pic below...any other opinions?? Yay or nay?
Miracles
★Brandon went to get help with his family history and he successfully made it back to the 900s! Holy! Then we went over the interview questions with him, and he stayed to play basketball!
★We met Lynn Williams this week! She hasn't gone to church in a looong while. But we started talking and she mentioned her son was near and was a member. She said "Joseph Beard" and we were like WE KNOW THAT NAME! A referral came in with that name, and we had no clue he was a member! Miracle!
★Brother Lauer and Jonathan. WOW. I think this was a match made in heaven. Best lesson with Jonathan. EVER. Brother Lauer is a convert to the church and he told Jonathan his story and he started asking questions and soon it became a conversation between them two. By the end Jonathan said "I'm going to be a convert!" We were SO excited! He even started listing off missionaries he wants to come back. This son of God will be baptized soon Im sure of it!
★Now Michael. He was a less active member referral, and he was excited that we stopped by and he sat us down and asked us all his questions! He kept showing us the goosebumps on his arms during our whole lesson. He knew we were sent from God! Michael asked about being born again and he agreed to be baptized on April 22nd! He told each of us yes, yes, and YES! So excited for the quick progress he's making through Christ! He's a new Yorker and we LOVE the "yous" and all the accent too!
★A lady named Angie Taylor went to the family history center, and then started asking questions about the church! She was able to meet with us later that day. Holy! I was nervous. It wasn't a super smooth lesson, but she definitely had some interesting questions! Anywho, we have high hopes she'll come around! God blessed us!
Spiritual Thought
We definitely had a hard week, we dropped a lot of our non progressing friends and not a lot of people at church... but you know what? GODS WORK CONTINUES! He is still so good. My goal is to be an example of perseverance EVEN in the hard times! Sometimes to talk it out with my companions helps, or even with Heavenly Father. But I know He is aware of me and my efforts and miracles are around the corner!
Birthdays
Happy birthday to SMYLIE who give the perfect hugs, Elder Shank who is just a silly goose, and Hermana Douglass (JACQUELINE) for being the bestest friend I could ever have! 🥳
