Week 41: IM IN A TRIO!
I HAVE ANOTHER COMPANION! SISTER WARDROP! Wow. I've been dying to be in a trio my whole mission. And HERE WE ARE! I can check that off the mission bucket list! Even though transfers literally happened last week, she was emergency transferred, or ETd over here! And for no reason other than God needed her here! Poor girl is about to hit 4 months and literally has been ETd twice, had 3 areas and 9 companions. She is such a light! President called us at 10:00 Tuesday morning and we picked her up later that day at 3. I was giggling setting up the 3rd bed in our room and our desk... ahh! Now we have 3x the spiritual power! And 3x the wardrobe too haha!
MEET MY NEW COMPANION!
My cutie new companion, Sister Elizabeth Wardrop, is from Calgary Alberta, CANADA!!!🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦 Yep that's right! She is so cool. She has her own cookbook, she is supa healthy and is just gorgeous! And... she's 5'9 ½" just like Sister Carter and me! So we were given the nickname triple trouble. I will now make a loving list of the funny things she says:
1- "washroom" instead of restroom
2-"university" instead of college
3-"runners" instead of tennis shoes
4-CELCIUS instead of Fahrenheit. She will walk outside and say "It feels like 10 degrees outside" hahaha!
5-"Bayg"(bag), "tayg"(tag), "draygon"(dragon)... all the "ahs" are "ays."
6- Her Canadian $5 bill smells like maple
7- "lonie"(loony) and a "tonie"(toony) are currency in Canada
8- "grade 8" instead of 8th grade
9- "zed" is how they say the letter "z." She spells her name out loud like so:
"E--L--I--ZED--A--B--E--T--H" Haha!
I LOVE HER SO MUCH!
Odds and Ends
--- The Beebes 1 year old pushed the whole table with his tiny legs at our member meal
---Sister Carter screamed and squashed a daddy long leg. She does NOT like them.
---Light the World started this week! Made some sugar scrubs at a kickoff event!
---Found some bamboo to take a picture in front of!
---The sweet Meyers family took us to Chickfila and also a live drive thru nativity! It was so cool! A local methodist church put it together. They had a REAL CAMEL! AHH!
---The video my district for our role plays was shown to the entire mission! Ah!
---I sang "Choose Him Again" in a lesson for Audrey and Richard Black. That song teaches like nothing else!
---Had our Branch Christmas brunch!
---A little girl stuck a sticker on my forehead and I wore it until it fell off.
---Sister Wardrop has a mad King Julian voice.
---We had dinner with Jennifer Templin and her sweet family. Joseph gave each of us a mini cup full of change and 3 pieces of candy. Took a picture in front of their massive Christmas tree with our gifts.
Miracles
★★★Since we are in a trio now, I decided to be in the back so Sister Wardrop can learn the area. We pulled up to our next lesson with a boy in our ward who is 8 and is taking some lessons before he's baptized! Sister Carter and Wardrop got out and then I hopped out. But Wesley and his sister Whitley and their mom all ran and gave me a hug. They thought I left because they didn't see me in the front 2 seats! They were so sweet. It made me smile! It's a miracle being a missionary can make such an impact on people. And sometimes you never know how much until after you leave! But I'm not gone yet!
★★★The Riley boys agreed to take the lessons! We are super excited for them!
★★★Sister Wardrop met Henning for the first time and feels he is one of the reasons she needs to be here. Ahh!
★★★One of my favorite little girls in the branch, Paisley, was sick this past Sunday, and she saw me at the Christmas brunch. I got on my knees and waved to her, and she ran to me and yelled "Sister! SISTER!" Then she squeezed me tight and said quietly "Sister I missed youuuu!" It melted my whole heart ❤️
★★★We had a lesson with Patrick, and he kept getting distracted. He told us he didn't know where PJ, his son, was. So I hopped up and asked if we could look for him! We started walking down the street, and I said a prayer in my heart. Then we looked up and saw PJ's football on the grass! So we knocked on the door and it turns out he had just been at the neighbors house. We were led by the SPIRIT! IT WAS AMAZING! Then Patrick's taxi showed up, but we were able to teach him just enough before he left.
★★★ANOTHER miracle with Patrick is that Sister Bradshaw left a very elaborately tabbed Book of Mormon on his porch a long time ago when we couldn't get in contact. So now that we're in contact again, we asked him to go get it. And he started reading the Book of Mormon! We told him to read a tab a day! Sister Bradshaw followed that prompting long ago and even though she's not in this area anymore, she's still blessing it! I love and miss her. She's still working miracles here in Newberry!
★★★There's a legend of a dollar bill here in Newberry. We were told there was a hidden dollar bill in Newberry and we were only cool enough if we could find it. So let me tell you we LOOKED for that dollar bill. Well I couldn't find it anywhere! Then we were told it was in the FLOOR. Then we had a little help from an elder who used to live in the apartment and he told us where it was! A silly miracle, but it was a miracle we've been waiting for! We signed it and put it right back for future missionaries!
★★★We had Zone Council Meeting this week! (My first one). And we did our Holy Ghost invites again! We prayed and were prompted by the Holy Ghost that 20 of our friends need to be invited to be baptized! Miracles are coming our way in Newberry!
★★★Almost a month and half ago, I put a Book of Mormon in the apartment complex leave-and-take library. Every day we pass it, and one day I saw it was gone. But nope it has just fallen over behind some other books. So I got desperate and put passalong cards in the first chapter of every book hehe! Still, every book was taken BUT the Book of Mormon. It was left all by itself. And then one fateful evening this past week, IT WAS GONE! AHH! The Spirit must have worked on someone's heart. Hopefully they call us soon!
★★★My Great Grandma Hamilton passed away this week. I knew leaving that I probably wouldn't see her again on Earth. But then one week I called Blake and he happened to be visiting her! Coincidence? I think not! God had a hand in it. She has her name written on the moon from when she worked at Motorola. She was baptized when she was 87 by my Grandpa Hamilton, who passed away just a month later. I know a mission God had for him in this life was to baptize his mom. And now they are reunited in heaven. I'm so grateful for the potential to be with my family forever if I live righteously. I have even more motivation to get to heaven now with my angel grandma there. Families are forever because of Jesus Christ.
